ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The Weight of Wellness: Empowering Pediatric Health

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with expertise working on a multidisciplinary team in pediatric integrated care settings. I created this site as a resource for healthcare providers looking for resources for patients, as well as adolescents and their caregivers who may be looking for support throughout this journey.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Family Science from the University of Maryland in College Park, and a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University. I am currently in the Doctorate of Social Work program at Rutgers University, where my research has focused on strengthening the care that minority patients receive.

THE APPROACH

Comprehensive Support for Pediatric Health

As a provider who has experience supporting patients in the pediatric health setting, I have seen the importance of using appropriate and non-shaming language, emphasizing the importance of mental health, food, and nutrition, and how these translate to improving overall well-being.

As healthcare professionals, we need to create a supportive environment where individuals and their families can access the necessary tools and guidance for addressing obesity and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
